Questions to Ask
When observing programs for children, parents should ask the following questions:
0 Are children greeted in a loving, respected manner?
0 Is the atmosphere bright and welcoming?
0 Are there caring, nurturing interactions taking place between caregivers and children?
0 Does the environment appear safe and secure?
0 Do the staff demonstrate respect for one another and the children?
0 Are children allowed choices for activities and environments?
0 Are children supervised adequately?
0 Do children seem engaged in stimulating activities?
0 Are toys safe, clean and within reach of the children?
0 Do caregivers communicate with parents daily?
0 Are caregivers trained and experienced?
0 Is the program licensed or accredited?
0 Are caregivers trained in CPR and first aid?
0 Are caregivers involved in continuing education programs?
0 Are parents welcome to visit at will?
0 Will my child be happy in this center?
